Since the first generation, iPhones have boasted excellent cameras. IPhones have various camera systems depending on the iPhone version. Apple has introduced AirPods, wireless headphones that harness cable-free Bluetooth technology and intuitively sense when they're in and out of your ears. If you've ever owned an iPhone smartphone, you may notice one of the device's standby features is conspicuously absent: the headphone jack. More colors have been added to the selection. The iPhone has no expandable storage however, internal storage is ample, with 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB options. Improvements continued with each new version. Beginning with the 5th generation iPhone, Apple used its A8 processor chip with 64-bit architecture. There have been many iPhone processor versions as well. Later versions are not necessarily better than earlier ones. Each version is very effective for the device for which it was designed. There have been 15 iterations of iOS, the most recent version released in November 2021. They operate off Apple's proprietary iOS operating system. Common elementsĪpple iPhones have a history of excellence, style, and consistent customer satisfaction with each new version. That includes the breakout first generation iPhone 3G up to and including the newest models. From time to time, eBay posts for sale some or all of the iPhone versions. Since then, Apple has released 15 versions. Many actually prefer Touch ID over Face ID, but whether it's worth it to stick with an older iPhone design and a tiny screen for the sake of Touch ID is up to you.Apple released its first-generation iPhone in 2007. The iPhone SE uses the old-but-reliable Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the bottom, which doubles as the Home button. The iPhone 12's design includes the notch, which houses Apple's Face ID sensor for unlocking the phone. This makes the phone comfortable to use while maintaining a screen size that's just right. In comparison, more current iPhones, like the iPhone 12, have narrower screen borders that make the device look sleeker and the screen larger, while keeping the physical size compact. It takes up room, so it makes the screen size even smaller than the iPhone SE's overall dimensions. The iPhone SE has a classic iPhone design that traces back to the iPhone 6 from 2014, with large spaces above and below the screen. While Apple doesn't sell the iPhone 12 Mini anymore, this photo still serves to show the design differences compared with the iPhone SE's classic-but-dated iPhone design. The iPhone 12 Mini (left) and iPhone SE (right). The iPhone SE is great for those who is most concerned about price or actually want a physically smaller device. The iPhone 12's downside is that it uses an older A14 Bionic processor, but it is the low-cost model we would recommend because it offers a better features and user experience. Plus, it has a larger screen size, which is more suitable for multitasking and streaming. It's $170 more than the iPhone SE, but it has better cameras and more modern design. The next budget option is the 2020 iPhone 12 (starting at $599). What holds it back is its older design (it's the only new iPhone that still uses Touch ID), small screen size, and short battery life. It uses the same A15 Bionic processor as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, and packs all that power in a compact design. The iPhone SE is classified as a mid-range phone, yet there's nothing mid-range about its performance. Starting at $429, the latest iPhone SE is the least expensive phone in Apple's current lineup. When it comes to iPhones, wallet-conscious shoppers have not one, but two choices: the 2022 iPhone SE and the 2020 iPhone 12. If you're one to turn your nose at premium flagship phones, you've got options.
